On December 21, 2015, a quadruple murder occurred in the Swiss town of Rupperswil, located in the canton of Aargau. An unknown perpetrator entered a house in the town, tied up and killed a couple and their two children. The murders went unsolved for several months, with police conducting an extensive investigation that included collecting DNA samples from male residents of the town. In May 2016, a suspect was arrested and later confessed to the murders. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison. The case received significant media attention in Switzerland and abroad due to the brutality and senselessness of the crime.
